Talavera Azul Digital Download

During the 16th Century, Spanish glaze and tile techniques were introduced to Mexican artisans, who combined them with Mexican techniques resulting in the amazing Talavera tile.  During the early years, the only color used to create the tile was cobalt blue.  This was the most expensive pigment at the time which created high demand for this beautiful tile as a symbol of prestige and quality.  My interpretation of this beautiful tile is a nod to my Spanish/Mexican heritage and the artisans that created it.
